NeighborWorks® Homeownership Center is a 523TA grantee for the Mutual Self-Help Housing Program (Team Build),
funded by USDA Rural Development.
We work in partnership with USDA to make affordable homeownership a reality to low-income buyers in rural communities. Qualified applicants receive a USDA 502 loan and cooperatively contribute 60% of the construction under the direction of a qualified construction supervisor.
The labor or “sweat equity” serves as the buyer’s down payment. Additionally, the USDA 502 loan has 33 or 38-year loans with rates as low as 1%. People who participate in this program learn how to maintain and repair their homes as well as create strong relationships with their neighbors while building each other’s homes.
For more information, see the attached Fact Sheet.
